Searching on Rival

The search bar above looks across three things at once — videos, creators, and hashtags. Type a single word like “cooking” and you will see a mix of trending creators in that niche and the most-watched videos. Type a username starting with @ to jump to a specific person. Type a hashtag with # to see every video in that competition or trend. Search runs as you type with a short debounce, so results update without needing to hit return. Press Escape to clear the field.

Search tips

• Be specific: “dance challenge” will return more useful results than “dance”.
• Try the hashtag form: #funniest, #hottakes, #caption — most weekly competitions live behind a hashtag.
• Look at creators first: finding one creator in a niche usually leads you to the whole community.
• Use sound names: if a sound is going viral, search the sound title to see every video using it.

What is searchable

Search covers public video titles, descriptions, hashtags, and public usernames. It does not cover private accounts or videos that are still uploading. Direct messages, drafts, and competition entries that have not yet been approved are excluded. Verified creators (marked with the blue tick) are surfaced near the top of creator results when their username matches. If you cannot find what you are looking for, try the Trending or Hashtag pages — they are organised by topic rather than text matching.

Reporting search abuse

If a search result violates our community guidelines — harassment, copyright theft, or banned content — tap the three-dot menu on the video card and choose “Report”. Reports are reviewed by a human within 24 hours. Repeated abuse leads to creator suspension. Search results are not curated to favour any creator; ranking is purely based on relevance and recency.
